Poetry in Santa Clara County (poem)

Growing up in Delhi,
I felt, that I was privileged, to interact,
closely, with classmates, beyond my religion,
for I was Hindu and they were Sikh, Muslim, or, Christians.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I know, I have a chance, to stretch,
my spectrum of interaction, to the entire world,
for, this is a den, where people, from all parts of the world live.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I have realized, that we are one,
that, the greetings convey the same message,
be it, a Native-American-Indian “Aho” or an Indian “Namaste”.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I wish, to capitalize on this chance,
to demonstrate, the unity hiding behind the diversity,
by reaching, interacting and inducing writing, in local residents.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I think, poetry needs to start, in school,
so that, a 8 year old, can share, what he sees in clouds,
and a 15 year old, can yell, how much it hurts, to feel rejected.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I feel, poetry can squeeze adults, in library,
so that, he, can describe, the pressure of payments,
and she can speak, about the fulfillment, in nursing her baby.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I sense, poetry can extract a lot, in senior centers,
where, he can reveal, how much, he really misses his wife,
and she can illustrate, how did she react, after being proposed.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I know, poetry can help patients, in hospitals,
where, someone can share, how much, nerve pain hurts,
and another can talk, about a dream, to walk, out of the bed.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I aspire, to use this strong thread of poetry,
to connect the beads of inherent-expressive nature,
by gifting them, nourishment, simply, by playing with words.

Living in Santa Clara County,
I visualize, this place, becoming a cynosure,
for, only here, innovation in technology is allowing,
a poem sent out by one heart, to touch another, in few seconds.
